Interests

Coming from a family well adversed in outdoor adventure, I feel as though the outdoors holds a significant part of me. On one side of my family, my father grew up on Lord Howe Island where his days were filled with lots of adventure, including fishing, mountain climbing, bike riding, surfing, sailing, snorkelling, palm tree climbing. I was fortunate enough to visit this beautiful part of the world in 2003 and participate in these activities.

The southern most peak is Mt. Gower, a category 5 mountain hike, which along with my sister and father in 2003.

My Mother on the other hand was a competition skiier in her youth and spent many winters "chasing powder". My maternal great uncles and cousins all reside in Germany and regularly participate in mountain climbing, mountain biking, Skiing and hunting and my Omi's stories of her youth in Silesia and Bavaria have inspired a lifelong dream to fulfill vast exploration of these areas.
Once I have completed my degree, I envisage travelling Europe in a true explorative sense (not a "contiki" type tour).

Several places I hope to visit are:

-Bayerischer/Österreich Alps - skiing, mountain biking

-Dollarmites in Südtirol

-Le Bisses. Suonen waterpipes that are constructed down Swiss Alps to deliver water to low rainfall valleys - great walking tracks

-River surf the Eisbach in München

- Canyoning in the Swiss Alps

Finally from the hike, this new objective has begun to grow in my mind. -Orienteer in Scandinavia to see the Aurora Borealis/ telemark ski and go ice fishing!

Alot of these experiences have comparable activities in Australia and it is these experiences that have provided the fuel for motivation to further explore other continents. The fundamental ideas behind packing appropriate equipment, clothing and food resources carry throughout.
In terms of my future employment, I would give great consideration to any potential job prospects in Outdoor Education that would allow me to explore and discover.
